is it just me or is there more going on in the right channel?

I've always been noticing that different stuff were put on the left and right channel of a music recording to separate the instruments,

for example, the snare on the right and the guitar on the left, and the hi hats are often on the right

What I've been feeling recently is that there is more... stuff going on the right than the left,

and this has been making me uncomfortable,

because I am not sure anymore whether my dap or my iem is unbalanced.

And the unbalancedness is giving my ears weird sensations, making one side feel like it's been fit wrong or as if the other side has more space.

I mostly listen to recent alt.rock, rock, acoustic rock, pop, etc.

Has anyone been noticing the same thing, or should I try to see if anything is wrobg with the cabling (I recently recabled my um3x) or my dap?

If im not wrong, thats what we call Stereo sound

Its when we hear different sounds coming from the right and left channels....

earerror.... he's asking why it seems like more sound is coming from the right side than the left side, not why the right side and left side have different sounds coming from them.

minjae, why don't you just try listening to music with various sources and headphones/speakers.  If the right side still sounds stronger, maybe you should check your hearing.  Or maybe that's just how music is.

More on the left for me.

Even worst when I get cold.

Maybe go to the doctor to check your hearing.

Or try to listen to mono tracks. It should be equal on both sides.

Thanks for the replies.

I tried other IEM's, other cables, and other sources,

and when I just about concluded that it's either placebo or just my left ear having bad shape,

I realized that the sensations that I get when I pull my UM3X out from my right and left ear were different,

The left one just... came out smoothly as if there was no seal, but the right one felt more like a pop.

So, I looked at the left unit,

and

there was a gap between the two parts of the case (the clear bit and the black bit.)

I think that this has been affecting the bass and the seal and thus creating imbalance.

I'm gonna give the store where I bought it from a call tomorrow. :)

Well, being a drummer I may know why you feel it more in the right. It seems like stereo recording in a lot of bands I listen to try to simulate being behind a set. Often we set up the heavier cymbals to the right in our sets (Louder obviously). Most drummers are also right handed so the larger toms are obviously to the right. I usually notice the snare and bass being equally present making sense since the snare is the center, and the bass is suppose to be a center sound. Small toms and add on timbales, roto-toms, timbales or whatever end up being on our left, and are used less. These instruments are much lighter on their impact, and of course being used less means there would be less noise to the left. This could be a reason why.
