I passed CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Level 1!

You guys are the second to know (the first was a finance forum I frequent)...I passed CFA Level 1 (results were emailed today)! Pass rate was 42%. Any CFA charterholders or candidates Head-Fi members? What about MS in Finance? Haha...I looked at that Suze Orman clip....I find Orman very annoying, but her analysis of the headphone was financially correct.

 

The Bad News: Assuming the $1400 for the Sennheisers could have been used to pay down the 12% credit card debt the opportunity cost (EVERYONE DON'T LOOK) is over $4300 assuming it's paid off in 10 years. Ouch.

 

The Good News: If the woman "invested" the money ($1400) at 12% by paying off the credit card debt... she could afford the Sony R10 in ten years.

 

So the question is....would you rather have a Senn HD800 NOW or a Sony R10 in ten years? They are financially equal choices. :)

Uncle Erik...I was wondering when you'd stop by.

 

If by "free" you mean you give me your spare DT48, then yes I'd love to speak with you.

 

EDIT: Seriously, my investment professor in undergrad (FIN-469) used to warn us to NEVER give advice for free...not even to family members. His experience was that giving free investment advice is a great way to lose friends. There is no payoff: If they lose money they will blame it all on you. If they make money then they will simply say to themselves "How wonderful I am for asking Bob, I'm such a smart person!" Of course, paying clients do the samething...but at least you're getting paid to get yelled at. :)
