[Review] Hifiman RE-Zero - Page 9

Personally speaking , I have quite a problem with the hifiman products....

I bought the re-zero as a first quality IEM , and i liked it a lot

I decided to buy the RE-262 as an upgrade to the re-zero , and i liked it even better

I am waiting next week for my pair of RE-252 , if i like them as well , what am i gonna do if/when they release their next flagship IEM ?

i mean , i wanna try other brands as well

(thank god that hm 601 doesn't play gapless , and i managed to buy a J3 instead.... first non - hifiman product)

hoping the bold will not come true - after the 262 i should go for something like GR-10 or a cheap custom

or maybe i will stick here until my 262 break/get lost

(thing is , IEM's are only 1/3 of the money equation - DAPs and amps being the remaining 2/3)

Got the balanced ZEROs with the 601 yesterday... I wanted to give the ZEROs love, but they sounded very veiled.  I removed the filter, and wow.. it really opened them up.. sounding better every hour.. sweet.

I'd be surprised if there were an audible difference.  Also, the filter is there for good reasons, I do recommend putting it back.  It shouldn't sound veiled after plenty of burn-in, though I don't remember mine sounding veiled at any point.

The Head-Direct site still lists them as having a TRRS plug, but from what I've heard they've changed things in the past without updating the pages immediately. If that is the case, then I shall be able to feel superior for having a true 'limited edition' RE-ZERO. Yes it's more hassle, but limited is better, obviously.

It's odd to me that they should be described as veiled - the thing that hit me when I first listened to them all those months ago was the astonishing clarity and transparency. I didn't take them off my ears for three weeks after that.

Oh well, each to his own I guess. Glad you're now enjoying them.

I was expecting the typical stereo plug, but the phones I got have four segments, and came with the soft and hard adapters, as shown in the review photos...

I think the TRS version could be those that are free with the HM601 purchase. Maybe the limited edition is still TRRS.

I have e-mailed the customer service more than a week ago, and still no response. Does anyone else know if the RE-ZERO's they offer on the site now come with a "normal" TRS plug?

As far as I know, it is still TRRS.
