Old HiFi system .... is it any good?

Thread Starter

Gday guys,

So I've got this old Hi-Fi sytem that I got as a teenager easily 12 years ago.
I loved it so much back then!
I haven't had the chance to listen to it for a long time since I now live abroad but am wondering if it is any good.
Since I am forced to change home every 6 month or so, I don't have any home, large rig. I only use my trusted touch & IE8s. So I do not possess any reference point as to how good/bad this old system is.

I would like to have your opinion on this, I hope I posted in the right forum.

I couldn't remember much info about my system but by extensively looking online i managed to find a picture of it.
It seems to be an Aiwa NSX-S505 and looks something like:

I know it had a 5 speakers sound system with 2 "main" large (same size as the source) and 3 smaller ones, something like this:

Well i know this isn't much, but can you tell me anything about it ?

I does not read mp3 and doesn't have ipod dock, but who care :) plus if my memory is right there's an input connector...

Thanks in advance!
Cheers

If there is a line level input connector you can use it as a speaker system for your PC system.

There isnt many reviews on these kinds of stereos but maybe you can find some by googling the model number. But my guess is that upgrading from it would be easy.

If You have some place to store/Keep it until you are in "One" place for a while you could always use that rig in your garage or shop etc.etc........Unless that is, you can sell it or even want to keep/sell it........What do you want to do with it???????  Remember when you don't have any tunes, just about any rig will do the trick....

Sorry but to be perfectly honest it is not much good at all.

The typical very low end "hi-fi" system you find in supermarket with many watts, light and buttons... it sound awful, i have something similar and even the volume control is so crappy that the sound change so much between volume numbers like it was linear and not logarithmic !

Almost anything from "real" hi-fi is better.
