SOLD: Sony MDR-CD1700.

I'm the first owner. Bought them in the late nineties.
They cost new f. 500,- (about 250,- Euro).
Back than they were the top dogs of Sony, right after the R-10 and the MDR-CD3000.
The comfort of these headphones is unmatched.
Over the years the earpads became flat.
I was able to buy genuine MDR-CD 3000 ear pad foam from a fellow Headfi-er.
I brought the CD1700 to a professional tailor, to sew the foam in. Which cost 22,- Euro.
The result is amazing. They look and feel like new.
The pads are firm again.
To be sure, I washed them as well. Which I'm willing to do again before shipping.
Note: Sony doesn't make these ear pads anymore. To be sure you'll enough foam for the time being, I'll throw in a pair of foam cushions coming from Beyer aviation leather ear pads. I destroyed the leather before I could even use them, so the foam is like new as well.
The overall condition is as shown in the pictures.
The headband strap (the side on the head) has lost some of the covering, but that doesn't effect wearing comfort. There's no blackness coming off.
The other side of the strap is fine.
Reason for selling is their sound signature. Which can be described as bright, light, revealing and detailed.
Too much for me. I prefer warmer and fuller sounding headphones.
The bass of the CD1700 is punchy and tight. Mids are detailed and bright, but still coherent and musical.
The highs are sweet and liquid. No harsh note to be found.
The soundstage is rather wide for a closed headphone, although they don't isolate that well.
