Beautiful looking, perfect condition, both physically and sonically. Serial Number 2948, button RS1 classic B version. Selling these with Flat and Bowl pads and the original box. I am keeping the extension cable. I have added and will include a beyer Pro Snap-On headband (fits perfectly all buttoned up), which increases comfort and protects the original Grado leather headband.
I bought these off a fellow Head-fier December 31 2009, so I haven’t had them that long and I have probably only added another 100 hours head time tops. I think they have had four previous owners, who all obviously look after their gear as well as I do; -a credit to all of them.
Grados are obscenely expensive in Autsralia, and “the local” product MS Pro comes in at $900 AUD- so is also in mega price territory. I will only sell these to a fellow Aussie Head-fier (unless I don’t get any interest) simply because we don’t get the opportunities other counties have on pricing/availability). I paid $530 or thereabouts AUD at the time (purchased from US) and I am selling these for $480 AUD inclusive of overnight express post to anywhere in Aus. Paypal payment.
RS1 is a great headphone, exciting, hard-hitting, detailed, beautiful mids, impactful bass, accurate highs: Ideal for- rock, acoustic, vocal reproduction. For me they are a fon that I can’t listen to all the time, too much in your face for my taste, however for occasional listening with certain albums/tracks they are second to none. I’m selling these for two reasons:
1. My Edition 8s although obviously not the same as the RS1s, do everything the RS1 does (well almost) and doesn’t give me listening fatigue, the Ultrasone is not quite as forward.
2. Although an exciting toe tapping listen at times, I don’t give them enough head-time to justify keeping them, Grado is just not my preferred sound signature for extended listening.
The picture below (photobucket link) depicts the only blemish, which is a nick in the wood above the S. It looks far worse in the pic (taken by the previous owner) than in the flesh, as the pic must be several sizes bigger than reality. In reality it is a very small bump un-noticeable unless you inspect it, but as I have said the headphone is in perfect condition it is important that I mention it. Cable at the Y junction is basically kink free.
