2010 Sony Walkman News: Android? Full EQ?

Engadget had an article last month that claimed a couple of Japanese websites claimed that the new Sony player should be released this month and should be Android based.

I am interested in anything anyone notices out there and can add to this thread.

That sounds awesome! I'd love to see a "smart" pmp from a different angle

Will it have an expansion slot?  Nevermind, Memory stick = FAIL.

Well, Sony SLR's are starting to support SD card - and Sony is now actually manufacturing their own SD cards. So there may be hope yet! : D

I would snap up an Android walkman pretty quick smart, as long as the audio performance was good. I'm assuming that if it supports Android, it will support any audio format as long as someone writes an app for it?

I don't care about the platform; let it support lossless compressed like FLAC, and a SD-slot and/or 64GB, and I'm in.

Get SDXC on a DAP and you have 2TB potential.  Bye bye disk drives!  Enjoy your future life in Cloud server obscurity.

Still hard to imagine Android on a Sony.  Have they finally seen the light?  I might have to consider Sony products beyond TV's and the PS3 if they have finally gotten the message.

I'm not surprised if this is true.  For years, people have said about Sony "Great hardware; crap software".  Switching to Android lowers costs and makes their products more appealing.

Should improve browsing experience on their Wifi DAPs also, which is very welcome competition to the iTouch since Zune HD looks to be dropped this year.

Erm, link? I suspect you might be referring to a walkman phone, which is very different from a walkman XP,

i think so, it is SE Walkman, not Sony Walkman mp3 player

So they're just talking about new XPeria with "walkman" logo, not about new walkman...

Hey Guys...I blew it upon closer inspection- this article was from 2009 June.

However, is anything on the Horizon???

Typically new stuff starts to hit the streets in September.  So I would imagine something new will be coming along.  My wish list for Sony is to lower the X series price by 100.00 each and then bring the A series 64GB to the US market.
