Determining strands in AWG

Does anyone know how many single strands of OFC or SPC it takes to make 22, 24,26 awg wire?

 

Are single strands generally the same size? I have access to some bulk wire and was wondering how many stands I would need to make those sizes. Is there some sort or tool or instrument I can use to measure that?

Generally it depends on how thin the strands are. Just as the overall wire, each strand is also measured in terms of AWG along with a cross sectional area. For example, ultra fine 40 gauge strand of wire has .005 square millimeter of surface area, 40 strands will give you .2 square mm, roughly equivalent to 24AWG.

I have several different sizes of silver wire and they are all listed to have 19 strands

I have seen a wire making machine and this makes sense that they can make any gauge wire on any of the machines they have, not one machine for each gauge..
