It also depends which encoders you are using for MP3 and AAC

Originally posted by Darth Minidisc I don't want to sound like I'm coming down too hard on this but I find it extremely difficult to believe that 320kps aac on the Ipod would sound better than lossless flac on the Karma, especially when the Karma has a better equalizer.
(Seriously, the iPod's response pretty flat, and I prefer my music EQ-free.)

Also, why don't you compare 320kps AAC to 320kps Ogg on the IHP too? Not that I don't like the Ipod, I'm in constant envy of my friend's 2nd gen but one of the strongest selling points of the Karma is that it has lossless playback(at least to me). |
Well, one could argue that the Karma needs a better equalizer (Seriously, the iPod's response pretty flat, and I prefer my music EQ-free.)
Originally posted by scottder I wonder how much lossless play impacts battery life though.
Originally posted by MacDEF Depends on the "lossless" format. If it's a "lossless compression" format, then it shouldn't affect battery life too much. On the other hand, if you're talking about uncompressed audio (which is by definition lossless), then you're looking at significantly shorter battery life.
