Ubuntu 10.04 LTS & Opera 10.60 - Page 2

I recently upgraded my GNU/Linux kernel for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I hope that Opera is going to be more stable, but only time will tell if there are any future crashes. I am using kernel 2.6.32-24--generic.

If anyone is using a similar configuration, then please post your experience while using Opera. How did you troubleshoot the issue to a successful resolution?

I just checked Linuxquestions.org and ubuntuforums.org for any active threads that contain Ubuntu and Opera 10.60 and I found nothing. I really hope that this kernel upgrade with resolve the crashes that occurred while using Opera and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with the previous 2.6.32-23--generic kernel.

Opera is a terrific suite of useful applications and I like using it a lot.

So, I have been analyzing the crash reports that I sent to the Opera development team and Ubuntu Launchpad. The reason why Opera crashes so frequently on my system is due to the high number of open tabs that I keep using (i.e., 10+ open tabs). I also have to wait for the next update to the Opera browser in hopes that the software engineers will address this issue.

When I use Opera 10.60 on my Windows XP Home Edition SP-3 partition, it runs stable with no crashes regardless of how many open tabs I have running. I have experienced no crashes so far.

I find it interesting to see how difficult it is to code the same application on multiple operating system platforms with very different results.

There is nothing more that I can do other than to wait patiently for an update that patches this problem and keep the number of open tabs to a minimum.

Opera is the fastest web browser that I have tried so far, but it is terribly unstable. I still get crashes on it regardless of what I do.

I updated my kernel to the latest version and I am now waiting for the Opera software engineers to release 10.70 this fall. So far, I have not experienced nearly as many random crashes with the new kernel in place plus switching over to NSA SE Linux.

I would like to know if other members are experiencing the same results with a similar configuration as mine.
