i might finally buy a phono stage soon, to allow myself the freedom to upgrade my amp to whatever i like and not have to worry about the turntable. whilst i'd like it to be a good performer, vinyl is my medium of choice and the turntable is the main element of my stereo, it will have to be in what i guess is the 'mid-fi' category due to funds.
that said, i thought the best solution would be to buy something basic now that can be added to later and i am essentially trying to pick between these:
Graham Slee Era Gold V (can buy the PSU 1 later)
Trichord Dino (can buy the power unit later)
Heed Questar (again, power unit some other time)
they all cost around £300 for the basic model, with the Heed being the cheapest by a little bit. The only experience I have of any of them is that I have a slee headphone amp that I love, and I could demo a Dino locally - otherwise my choices are basically driven by price and positive reviews, plus the ability to compete higher up the ladder by adding the power supply.
so any other recommendations or thoughts from anyone on this?
edit: oh, and musically im playing mostly ambient/modern classical stuff. some folk, some post-rock. just in case that is relevant to suggestions.
