Best Amp for $100 - Page 2

Hi, I am a noob to this 'industry', so pardon my ignorance.

I am just wondering, why is there a need for such an expensive amp for the K701. We're talking about the AKG K701 right? If so, is it that bad of a headphone or does it really need a big 'kick' to bring out its true potential? I plan on getting a K701 soon, so I am just a tiny bit worried.

And if we are talking about K701, can you recommend me an amp for the K701? Price range around $200. And if that's not good enough of a budget, what would be a good budget and for what?

Oh and i'll be using these headphones for a digital piano (Yamaha P155) and if not that, the computer lol.

Thanks.

Edit: @xxmastaxx

Yes, it's both DAC and headphone amp in one. Input: Coaxial & USB (as external soundcard), output: RCA & headphones.

It's manufactured in China, obviously (brand name Tianyun). That's where they cut the cost. The build quality is pretty low and thus rewards the risk taking bang-for-buck-searchers.

I seriously can't complain about my Zero DAC. But I've heard differently from others.
