Okay, so I wasn't really a huge believer in cables making that much of a difference to sound... until recently.
I have a stereo 1/8 to RCA cable, and when I play music through it, the music becomes heavily distorted. But that's not the strange part, the strange part is that on some tracks it removes the lead vocals entirely, just leaving the background track In stereo, still) and backing vocals (if any). The music is stereo FLAC or mp3, so no chance of the vocals being on a separate track.
My question is, how can a simple cable do this? I could understand degrading the sound, but removing very particular frequencies from the sound is just creepy. Hence the name, Devil Cable.
Any ideas as to why this happens or hints on exorcism would be welcome. It's a cheap cable, and I have no idea where it came from.
