If the buyer insists on paying with check, would I be able to cash it in and wait for the necessary amount of time before it either clears or is reported as a fake? I mean before I actualy send out the headphones there is no risk, right?

Sorry for my ignorance in this matter

Only until after you have cashed the check should you send out the headphones.

Yes, never ever ship before the bank says the cheque has cleared.
