The Ultimate Sandwich Cheese

So you've got access to some primo cold cuts and some great sandwich fixings. What type of cheese are you going to put on your ultimate sandwich? I know that certain cheeses work better with certain types of sandwiches, but which do you prefer most often when given the choice?

I personally love Swiss cheese, I always have slices of it ready in my fridge, and I'll put it on nearly every sandwich I eat. I'm pretty fond of Reubens, and Swiss goes perfectly with them. It pained me when Subway stopped offering Swiss in favor of Pepper Jack. What were they thinking??? :) What type of sandwich do you eat your favorite cheese on?

Provolone, usually have it on a Carlos which is sweet sopressata, ham cappy, eggplant, provolone, sweet peppers, oil and vinegar on a hero. One great sandwich, imho.

Hey, I like pepper jack. Goes good with chicken.

I'll also eat swiss or provolone on my burgers. Provolone goes great with the college's turkey burgers when they have them.

Not a big sandwich fan because I don't like tomatoes, onions, pepper, stuff normally found on the most complex of sandwiches. As long as there isn't too much of the above, I'll eat it anyway. But the flavors have to blend well or I'll gag.

Roquefort - nice and ripe, just barely spreadable

Another fan of Swiss here. I'll put it on everything.

KRAFT SINGLES!

Just Kidding. I would say any kind of Cheddar is excellent in a sandwich. Hard to go wrong with it. There are other cheeses that taste OUTSTANDING in specific sandwiches, but Cheddar is at least GOOD in everything.

My favourite is Dubliner cheese. Made only in Ireland from a secret recipe owned by their dairy board. Its flavour is a bit sweet, a bit nutty, and a hint of parmesan, so it pretty much tastes great with anything.  Especially good on its own over hot pasta!

Fun fact: was the name of Kirosia's Italian boyfriend. Hot Pasta was the son of a shoe repair man/baker. Hot Pasta grew up mending the shoes of the rich and sweating over the hot ovens in his Father's shoppe, appropriatly named The Cobbler's Cobbler.

Muenster: The REAL American Cheese™

Swiss on sandwiches is tough to beat. I like cheddar a lot too, but I'm more likely to just munch on it as a snack with meat or crackers or something.

And I loathe American cheese. If it had any other name it would have gone the way of Spam as a disgusting, overprocessed food-like substance that has no place in daily consumption. Instead, it's often the default cheese at many delis and burger joints, which just kills me

Nothing like a good American cheese. I love cheddar on burgers ala beef and cheddar, and I love me a turkey and Swiss, but there is nothing better than cheez whiz on a good philly steak sandwich. Don't be hatin Aman, and please don't tell me you are one of those people who eat provolone on a cheese steak.

thin sliced brisket, muenster, toasted onions and green peppers on potato or sourdough roll = win
