I think the Ad700's should be on this list.

You're right, but eventually you'll need a good sound stage hps to hear and enjoy it. I vote K-702 / K-1000.

K701's all the way mate.

K701, i'd vote k1000 but i have never heard them, but just from design you can tell they're spacious

What would be an example of a bad soundstage hps?

Good as amount of sound stage, like a lot of sound stage. On the other hand I know of few hps with less sound stage compare to the K-701/K-1000.

Correct! Maybe because few have heard them?

I've only had mine for a couple of weeks - but for soundstage, I'd agree with the many recommendations for the AKG K 1000

The three main ones I know of:

Audio Technica AD700 (pretty damn huge)

Sony MDR-F1 (haven't tried them out)

AKG K701/K702 (bigger than the AD700)

My vote: HD800s...simply breathtaking sound stage.

Out my headphones, I'd rank them (largest to smallest soundstage)

- AKG K601

- HiFiMan HE-5

- Audio-Technica W10vtg

- Pioneer SE-L40

- Shure SRH840 / DT770 Pro/250

My brief listen to the K701s lead me to believe they have a bigger, but a bit unnatural, soundstage.

Which is the most accurate?

Let me add info. I want headphones that don't have a "in your head" sound.

When I first listened to my K702s, I was amazed at how everything sounded like it was outside my head.
