Is it a new headphone?? I've never heard of it. and it's not on sennheiser's website.
Is it good? Anyone heard it?
It used the same drivers as the HD600, although apparently the drivers were less tightly matched with the 580. Basically a less expensive, more plasticy way to get an HD600, as Ham Sandwich just mentioned.
I actually perfer the HD580's headband over the HD650/HD600. It's lighter and the paint doesn't chip off of them, the HD600 headbands are also this funky fake marble color. A good looking combo would be to swap out the ugly HD580 grills with the HD600's black mesh grills.
I also think that Senn's "driver matching" is just marketing hype. Every time I order drivers from them they never ask or claim know anything about matching them in any way.
Wow, when I first saw the thread title I thought it was someone being sarcastic or joking. Imagine my surprise when I saw the op was serious. The heard of it? It's one of the most discussed headphones of all time. It has been extensively discuss for the last 15 years or better. If you do just a simple search you will find enough reading to last for months.
This makes me feel old.
I agree. The HD580 band is a softer material, and bends easier. The upshot of this is that the 580s are much comfier to wear for longer periods, while the higher clamping force from the 600s much less compliant band gets uncomfortable rather quickly (I have both and very, very rarely use the 600s due to their clamping).
There's nothing in it sound wise.
Are you sure you don't mean the HD850?
