Calling all M^3 owners with Bass Boost! - Page 2

I mean the Cbb caps lol. This is a simulation of a non-shorting or break before make switch. That Cbb slot will momentarily be left open as if there is no cap there. That's why I asked. I really want to install a switch badly lol so when I bring it to a meet, everyone can adjust it to their preference and I can try it with other cans. But Ti thinks it could become unstable.

Uhm... hence "adjustable bass boost". :)  The pot is for adjusting the level of bass-boost.  I'd imagine that if you momentarily have the caps out of the circuit, the volume may skyrocket depending on pot position, but I don't think it'll become unstable.  Now of course by wiring a switch in the feedback loop, making it A LOT longer of a loop, this may not be the best thing.

Thanks for your help. A pot will adjust the gain, but increasing it will decrease the shelf and corner frequencies. If I wanted to increase the shelf and corner frequencies higher,I would either have to decrease the pot gain, which does only little, or decrease Cbb, which does a lot. With all else equal (R3: 2.55K, R4: 10.2K, Rbb: 50K), Cbb at .22uF is normally the sub-bass region. 0.15uF is the lower bass region, 0.1uF is the mid-upper bass region (punch), and 0.068uF covers the bass harmonics when I need to transcribe for bass players. A pot will do little, but adjust gain.

Seeing how making the loop longer will cause problems... I have no choice but to "roll" caps for the appropriate music and depending on the situation I use it for.

I've built one M^3 and three PPA's all with bass boost. I settles on 0.18uF for the BB cap's. The 0.22 value was too subtle,

the 0.15 too much, and the 0.1 really muddied things up. FWIW.

What headphones did you use with it? Are the caps by any chance the Vishay/BC brand? Wima doesn't have .18

The .1 and .15 were Wima. The .18 was Vitamin Q from Beezar.

IMHO the Q's are an excellent/cheap choice for the BB.

x2 on 0.18 though to me at 0.22 the bassboost is pretty clear even if it's the k70x you're using. there're some songs I prefer no bassboost.
