I was quite swayed by you. one thing I worry about M50 is the soundstage. i know nothing extraordinary could be expected from closed cans, but I do want soundstage to be as good as possible. What do you mean exactly by "engaging" and "fun"? from my insufficient experience, i found myself really thrilled by new details I can perceive. that's why i emphasize this much. Thanks!

'engaging' or 'fun' to me means sort of a full bodied, round and thick dynamic presentation.  Some might consider that colored.  Imagine the difference between attending a live performance of a symphony orchestra versus a live performance of say an Alternative rock band for example.

If you are a soundstage fanatic you should really look into the Ultrasones if you want a closed can.

It all depends on your sound signature taste. I personally grown a loving towards the laid back relaxed sennheiser sound. Sennheiser might have a slower/boring sound signature, but you will never get fatigues from them. I think the m50 are better for DJ and music production and the HD380 are for enjoyment and relaxation.
