On that note... in your perusing, you might run into "third stream" music, which is one subgenre term that used to be popular, or various other more self-conscious attempts to meld jazz and classical. While I like some of that music a lot, I'd recommend not being tempted into thinking it's a good entry point for someone who already loves classical. I don't think it's that at all, whatever else it is.
Also, you have plenty of recommendations to start, but you might find yourself attracted to something more specific. If, for example, you discover that you particularly like piano trios (a la the Bill Evans that's been recommended so far) that can bring up other recommendations -- just like if you find you have a handle on piano trios and want something else, it'll tailor recommendations. There are so many directions to take. Like you might end up wanting something from earlier periods, or led by a particular instrument, or with more developed ensemble-writing. So many ways to go with this! But also I think "like KOB, not ALS" isn't a bad place to start, either!
Sort of like if someone new to classical asked: "I have these two records... I liked these cello/piano Beethoven pieces, but couldn't get with "Rite of Spring" at all. Where do I go from here?" You have enough info for some pointers, but there are so many very good options for how to even think about what directions to point.
