Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1/A1 vs Little Dot MkIII

Hello

I want to buy a tube amp and I'm interested in these 3 models (D1, A1 and MKIII). Being honest, I believe, for what I've read here in the forum, that the Little Dot MKIII is better in sound quality than the TubeMagic models and I'm almost decided to buy it, but it would be great if you tell me your opinions or if you recommend me other models for a $250 budget.

Would any of them have good synergy with a closed can like the K 271 MKII or SRH840 and an open can like the K 702?

Should I wait a bit and buy a Darkvoice 3322, Schiit Valhalla or anything like that? It's not urgent and I can wait a bit to have a budget of $400.

Cheers.

The D1 is not a tube amp. It's a dac that uses a tube buffer in one of it's outputs. It also has a built in amp that's also not a tube amp. It's a solid state amp.

Thanks, that was something that confused me.

I doubting between the A1 and MKIII. I love the speaker out of the A1, but I've read great reviews of the MKIII.

You will only use the D1 Tube out if you use it as a pre-amp for your system. In other words, it will only have the tube sounding if you connect it out to a pair of speaker and to another amp, other than that if you using it with your headphone, you are only using the DAC.

Hope it's useful!

I have discarded the D1, since I'm gonna buy an Audiophile 192 and use its DAC. The doubt now is between A1 and Little Dot MKIII.

I'd wait then, seeing as the A1 is not yet out. Theres no telling how it will stack up between the MKIII, in a few weeks though there should be some reviews up. Lastly, if you want to drive speakers, then the A1 is the only way to go. sp70.

Ryan offer me if I wanted to be in the preorder list, but I prefer to wait to others to review.

As I said before, it's not urgent and I can wait.

you have low impedance cans. Forget about the MKIII because even tho they'll sound alright, this amp is geared towards driving higher impedance headphones.

Wouldn't be ok with K 271 MK II or SRH840? What kind of models are you talking about?

I'm talking about the models that you own. The K271 MKII and the 840's have impedance lower then <100ohm,  and since the Mark 3 is an OTL,  it is by design to naturally drive higher impedance headphones more easily.  You'd prob better off waiting for some reviews of that A1.

So what did you finally get?
