SOLD: Balanced Sony MDR-SA5000 headphones

For sale are my Sony MDR-SA5000 headphones which have been recabled in balanced configuration with Moon Audio Black Dragon.  I do have a Balanced-to-Single Ended adapter for this headphone, along with the original box and headphone stand.  They are amazingly detailed and smooth, and due to the recabling have been called a "poor man's Qualia killer!"  Here are some photos:

Price is $300 + shipping.  PayPal users please add 3% to cover the fees.

Thanks for looking!

They're very addictive and unique sounding headphones.

They're not "smooth" or "wet" sounding headphones, they're quite visceral and silvery, imagine cold leather, chrome, airiness, rainfall.

They're made mostly out of magnesium, leather, cotton, nylon etc. and very little plastic.

They respond really well to sources, I've heard they perform quite different with different amps, I can't confirm that, but I personally use impulse convolvers (EQ settings) for them in foobar and no other headphones I've tried so far have come close to replicating the huge difference in sound these make with EQ/impulse convolvers, I like to increase the reverb a lot for example so when I play electronic music it sounds like a club atmosphere and they're pretty good at that.

Genre's:

It seems like most people claim they're the best in the world for electronic music haha, and I concur they're pretty good for that, but personally I love them with classical music, however I don't like them much with rock music, I find cheaper closed headphones quite better suited for rock tbh.

Misc:

- They have excellent bass, but it's very weak and has close to zero kick, they are also quite bright/sharp which I find a good quality but some tastes will not like it, hey, some people think martini tastes like battery acid right?

- The frequency response is 5Hz-100 000Hz.

Yes, we can only hear to 22 000Hz, and no, they're not designed to deter/attract bats, fish, mice or rats (even though you can do this I think :p).

The SA in the model number stands for SuperAudio, they were originally designed with SuperAudioCD in mind, which has recordings in that frequency range.

In brief, we can't hear the superaudio 22kHz+ recording, but the 5hz-20kHz which we can hear will sound more real and have better overtones, resonance and airiness than a conventional recording or something like that.  I can't confirm this (YET) because I don't have an SACD player yet but that's what I've read so far.

Sorry for long post I got carried away, and there aren't any recent threads on these particular headphones... =)

@kiteki- A great writing man, i especially enjoyed your imagery choices and i think it's an accurate picture of them,  i would add a polished glacier to the list, but alas it's the wrong forum...

It's hard to believe these aren't sold yet at the asking price, easily worth double IMO.
