i think you should look at some vintage turntables, namely thorens or ar tables,  

technics are indeed good dd tables (denon dp60L anyone)  but if you want thick sound u need a heavier platter..     if you go vintage get a thorens td 125,  if i ever get another table it will surely be the td 125 or an ar table and of course i can always dream about a linn lp12 or a vpi scout or  a 124

    i was listening to my 1200 all day today via denon dl103,  and  thin lizzy  sounded pretty good.

The Denon DP-59L, DP-60L, DP-72L are all also terrific vintage turntables that sound truly excellent - IMHO much better than the entry-level offerings from Pro-Ject, Rega, and Music Hall.  They may not be cheaper, though - they tend to sell for $300-800, depending on condition.  The key would be if you happened upon one locally for a bargain.

There are loads of great tables out there, just keep your eyes open for a bargain and be patient!

Sorry I haven't responded yet, I don't have the SOTA Sapphire yet. Decided to forgo the expense this month, but I'm picking it up next month -- it's on hold for me.

Someone get this man a dedicated turntable shelf!  That turntable is far too beautiful to sit atop a receiver like that!!
