amp+dac in under 250$ for grado sr225i - Page 2

bearmann, I don't entirely know what goes on when resampling happens but I don't see a problem with resampling to a higher rate with software. Doesn't it just pad it with no information? Of course this entirely sucks if if you have any content with a sample rate higher than 48khz :)

It's a bit more tricky than just filling the "extra" samples with zero information... you have to interpolate between existing values and "create" new values which (hopefully) happen to be actual/"right" values. This is a lot easier if your target sample rate is a multiple of your original sample rate.

48khz -> 96khz is no big deal and won't likely result in a degrading soundquality ... 44.1khz -> 48khz is "tricky" and should be avoided. But, again, it isn't very likely that you/anybody is able to ABX between a "true" 44.1khz music file and a resampled one.

regards.

I see what you mean :) Like 48 to 96, every other sample could be 0's. I agree, if it's even possible, I would imagine it would take high-end equipment to be able to hear a resampled 44.1khz song.
