Hi all,
I'm looking to recable my akg518 headphones. Right now the skinny cord it comes with is really prone to twisting and tangling, and seems really fragile at the plug. Also the cord is about three times the length that i need since I use it with my portable.
So my question is is there a product that exists that already has a y-split and plug just so only have to solder? Alternatively I've seen another thread in another forum where a fellow took a monster cable that already had a plug on it, trimmed it and made a y-split on his own.
Most threads I've seen here have people buying cable and plugs seperately and then soldering everything together. I've never done any headphones mods (or any wiring at all really), so I'd really like to simplify the process. I'm aware there is a difference in sound quality of different cables, but I'm relatively happy with the sq of my headphones now and would really just like to make them more durable and resistant to the stressors of normal use. So would there be any detriment of buying a cable with a plug in it already? (ie price, sound quality..etc)
thanks!
