One area where we disagree.   I think the TTVJ Slim and the Pico Slim are better than the Protector by a considerable margin...at least with JH13s.

That is correct, it is solid state, however, it has been specifically designed by Pete Millett to emulate a tube-based amp in terms of sound signature to the extent possible.  This is why I find it to be very synergetic when it's paired to a neutral sounding IEM, such as the JH13 Pro.

I'm also deciding between TTVJ or Pico Slim. As of now I only have the Grado 225i in my inventory. Planning to add a JH13 sometime in the near future too. Can anyone advice me on which amp would be better for my headphone and future iem. The types of music I listen to ranges from old stuffs like Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd to new ones like Muse, Depeche Mode, indie rock bands and Porcupine Tree.

If it hasn't been made clear already, the Pico Slim is a much smaller amp than the TTVJ Slim. Almost half the width, IIRC, and just a bit thicker. Unfortunately, the one JH had at the AV Show was out of battery so I can only speak to the form factor.

I've heard grado 325i through the pico slim and I thought they made an excellent combination.

You didn't find it overly bright?  I say this because the 325i are such bright headphones (compared to the other Grado).  But, I remembered the MS1i and HF2 was very good with the pico slim.

I was waiting to hear someones view on the Pico vs The protector. I guess i wasnt missing anything when i decided to choose the Pico Slim over the Protector. I ended up choosing my Stepdance over my Pico Slim anyway. IMO it just blew it away in every aspect, except it's 4 times BIGGER than the Pico.
