Thread Starter

i'm using version 2.0.0.20 and certain sites make a top portion drop down and in the top right hand corner a button says "Install Missing Plugins" and to the right a red x, on the left it says "Aadditional plugins are require to display all of the media on this page". here's a screen capture:

is there a setting so that it never asks you if you want to download plugins?

Well, you could always install the plugins.

Got to about:config and switch plugins.hide_infobar_for_missing_plugin to true.

But I'm using firefox 4.0 and can't test it right now so I'm not sure if it does what you want it to.

I have been using Firefox for several years and never seen that drop down,i guess all the plugins must have installed them selves when i installed firefox. It's allways worked just fine.

My thought as well.

Perhaps Firefox will give you less of a hard time if you update to the latest version? Version 2.0.0.20 was released back in 2008. . .

I did that a whle ago and it does work.  I'm using Firefox 3.5.9 with NoScript.  Maybe Fractus hasn't upgraded because he's afraid one of his extensions won't work anymore.
