Recabled and Viablue-plugged AUdio Technica ATH-SJ5

Thread Starter

My little brothers phones broke at the plug so I fixed it for him.

I thought I might recable them aswell as it doesnt take long.

I just took a normal cable from home that was once a s-video cable.

The viablueplug was harder to solder then anything I have worked with before (ok maybe not harder then a hd-15 plug lol)

Both cable and plug is overkill for the phones but since it was the only plug I had home

I know the shield looks unsodlered but its only mostly soldered at one side.

After this I filled all the gaps with hot glue and also just kinda glued all around.

I also glued all around this part.

Finished and working perfect.

Here is the change in size from the old cable to the new

If you are about to buy cable for the viablueplug then be sure to use a round cable

and try to get it as thick as the plug is.

It was kinda hard to attach this flat cable, I had to use a bit of a shrimptube and also glue some

on that to have buildup to screw onto.
