Pro 900 vs k701 vs ALO-780

Pro 900 with Kees mod is perfect for what your needs are. K701 would be terribly disappointing for Techno/Trance.

For the K701/2 you'll need a good DAC and amp. With the Ultrasones you can save some time and money, the sound stage of the Pro/PL-650 is about 80% of the K-702.

The Pro-900 are bass heavy you'll need to check them out and to see if you like them.

KeeS modded Pro 900... A lot better then the Audiotechnica A900 and K701 regarding soundstage on these ears.

Gawd... they're all such great headphones..... Can't wait to get my Pro 900s in the mail.

I dun like the 780

FWIR and with my experiences modding my own 780s, it seems like the biggest benefits between the Alo and the stock come from internal dampening and removing the diode board. I'm not saying the Alo or Jena cables aren't beneficial, just saying you could get a large chunk of those benefits from recabling and dampening them yourself. Even if you decided to recable with Jena, you could buy the Jena Ultra wire for about $140 and then get the stock 780s for ~$150 on ebay and DIY. But then again, I have no personal experience with the Alo modded 780s so I may be completely off base....

Aha! You don't like everything I like! haha and I don't fully appreciate what you suggest. I find Denons and Sennheisers too polite to give me enjoyment out of my music. I truly tried to enjoy Sennheisers when I heard them but I wanted more excitement.

I love AKGs, Audio Technicas, and Ultrasones. To each their own =)

The pro900's are a clear step-up from the AD900's and dominate them in every respect.
