So, is the 9th a for-sure date? Just need to know so I can make sure to take the time off.
I'm going to assume so, as I'm not getting more than 2 or 3 responses. Also I've amassed only the one sponsor. I'm gonna start making phone calls instead of sending emails. I'll do my best to look into this starting tomorrow.
Thanks for the hard work Aynjell. I'm looking forward to the meet. Unfortunately, my latest audio purchase has been a pair of bookshelf monitors from JBL. While it would be fun to set them up and take a listen, I'm sure we could do much better at custom.
I've secured another sponsor in headphone.com (please see the original post), I'm going to call CE tomorrow and get ahold of Tim to get the date/time 100% set in stone but as of right now we're sticking with the plan of october 9th. It's getting really close to that time. If you know somebody that knows somebody that has gear, see if you can get them to come. We want more attendance. Please, get some links in your signature so we can get more response and catch people who haven't seen this thread yet!
I've secured another sponsor in whiplashaudio.com, they will be providing raffle prizes and also loaner gear. ALso custom electronics has confirmed the 9th. That is our date.
Since headroom already provided the big high end amps I will be requesting loaner cans. They'll also be sending us an imod as well as some raffle prizes. I'm going to try and request the AKG K701, and the Sennheiser Hd650. Any objections? We already got the 580 coming so that covers the HD600 for the most part. The way I understand it is the 600 is a better 580.
Any thoughts on this, guys? I could really use some input. Doing my best to make this the best possible event and doing my best to make everybody happy. Is everyone still a go on coming?
Another bumping update: Headroom has given me permission to give information on the product they are shipping to me:
1x Ultra Desktop Amp
1x Micro Amp
1x Micro Dac
1x Desktop Power Supply
1x Total Airhead (This will be our raffle prize from headroom)
Approximately 3100$ worth of gear. =)
Headroom is really making this head-fi meet something special by sending us so much product to demo. I will be contacting whiplash today about their contribution to the event (again, we have a great selection of headphone amps, but I wanna fill out the selection of headphones a bit by getting an HD650 and an AKG K701). Last chance to dispute this and suggest something else, but come my lunch time I'm making the call. 19 days left before the meet, it's gonna be fun!
As a brief forewarning, I'm liable for all this gear. It would be a really good way to screw me over to break or damage one of these amps. I hope everybody coming understands this and exercises the utmost in caution with the loaner gear. Financially I'm a bit tight right now so I hope that you all respect the gear provided by our generous sponsors so that I'm not paying huge sums of money for broken gear.
That said, I too am looking forward to this!
Comply has confirmed that they are sending 10 pairs of T-100 and 10 pairs of T-400 tips. These tips will fit on the Grado iGi, Grado GR8, and Westone UM1's that will be present.
I hope you can make it. It won't be an event to miss.
