FS: Balanced Audio Technica ATH-A700

Hello,

I have just realized that I still have these headphones and that I'm not really using them so I have decided to part with them. They brought the A700 a few months back from a head-fier while it still had the original cables. This is the same infamous headphone that has been well known by this thread:

http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/470873/i-just-brought-a-headphone-from-a-fellow-head-fier-here-but

...However, I hope that you read it to the end because the problem was solved and in its process, I decided to do a balance them using Mogami 2534. The adapter to convert the balance to 1/4 will be included. The headphone will be shipped along with the original box.

Couple Mentions:

1) The condition is excellent, the earpads/headpads has been recently replaced with new pads.

2) The original damping foam in the earcups has been replaced with a thicker felt to increase the precision of the bass.

3) In the process of the balance recable, I forgot to label which XLR is left/right. It's sounds like it should be it's a trial and error situation before you start listening. If you have large heatshrink, this issue can be solved quickly.

Not necessarily, the "balanced" system is not necessarily the same as with headphones. The fully balanced system is just that - every analog connection is balanced, but mostly for really long distances. For headphones, using a balanced amp and wiring on the cans is like using speakers, meaning L and R drivers both have their own ground channels as it is on L and R speaker channels. Most headphone amps and most headphones as they come stock usually have 3-channel architectures, and some headphone cables share the same ground conductor from the Y-junction or are connected to the same point in the 1/4" jack. Might have gotten some of the details wrong but that's the basic idea.
