Odd, I've never had a problem with getting things shipped here. Or shipping Stateside. It's usually quite fast, depending on where the item is coming from (Japan is one of the quickest, actually). I'm betting it's because my parents collectively worked there as carriers for about 50 years. We're probably on some sort of priority list.

From what I've heard it's really easy for Canada Post workers to steal packages.

Sorry to hear about that. I always prefer Canada Post to others as a Canadian myself, I've shipped or received 40+ packages in past 12 months and I've never had any problems.

From what I've heard, Queen Elizabeth II is a man

Stuff I've order from Canada tends to take WAY to damn long to arrive. Not sure I've ever lost one, but a couple of times I was SURE the package was lost because it had been so long since shipment. Fortunately I've never shipped into there. Shipping to/from other countries overseas has mostly been problem-free. Something's not right at that particular border.

I have to say if you shipped to Turkey without tracking and it arrived without any problems, you are a very lucky man. I've seen and heard majority of shipment get lost or never delivered here in Turkey without tracking.

Also my last order arrived in Turkish post office from UK in 2 days and it took 3 days to be delivered to my house. Post office is 30 mins away to my house. Post office workers are lazy slackers.

No problems shipping internationally from here, nor receiving internationally from here.  I generally pay for the faster shipping to get a tracking number, which may make a difference.

True, customs can take awhile to clear packages depending on the time of year.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, but I wouldn't write us off yet.

Personally, regardless of receiving country I always use shipping with a tracking number. It's worth spending extra bucks to avoid any possible problems.

Depends on how you choose to ship and what company you use to ship it. USPS will get routed through Canada Post, UPS will be UPS and Fedex will be Fedex-- I should also note, that Fedex and UPS are by far the worst thing to ship to Canada with, so if you really hate the person you're selling to, that should be your method of choice; they take far longer and charge a ridiculous handling fee as opposed to the USPS/CP combo.

I find it's hit or miss depending on how the person mails it. If they pick the cheapest option to ship, yeah, it takes about a month to make it's way up here. My Pioneer SE-L40s were shipped from Texas in about 7 business days, my Audio-Technica W10vtgs were surprisingly fast at 5 business days from, I believe, Connecticut. Everything I've ordered from Asia that has shipped through EMS has come rather fast and anything via commercial websites fast as well (sometimes faster than ordering nationally).

I suggest you either change your shipping method to something faster or get a lucky rabbit foot.

Maybe I've been lucky then whenever I've shipped to Canada. It has typically be under 2 weeks for the cheapest with no tracking (although I make the buyer fully aware of that before I ship as well as make them assume risk). I got lucky with some and got it in around a week but by 2 weeks all my packages to Canada has been delivered. All of it has been small packages in a small to medium sized bubble envelope however so actual packages may be different. It's all been by USPS which gets directed to Canada Post.

USPS shipping to Canada is reliable, especially with a trackable option. When shipping from Canada to anywhere else, I normally select a more expensive shipping method to provide tracking/signature/insurance. I've never had any problems.

Customs usually take a while, but I've not had a package that haven't shown up eventually. A little more patience perhaps? The other options are FedEx/UPS, both which are more expensive than shipping via USPS and Canadapost, plus the ridiculous UPS brokerage charges that the buyer will have to pay.

Canada post always fail, they always claim to deliver the stuff to your doorstep, but in fact I see no one ring my bell all the day long

They fail again not to put delivery note to alert me to pick up, not until I call them, then I know the package arrived long time ago

Second, Canada custom process speed is way too slow, my record is that it takes 2 weeks to clear a package declared as 100CAD.............

I see it's time for this month's "everyone post their misconceptions about international shipping, particularly to Canada" thread.

It's pretty well known that First Class International has a fairly unpredictable delivery time to Canada.  I've had stuff take anywhere between a week to several weeks.  I only ask for First Class if it's a small or minor item of little value which I don't mind waiting several weeks to receive.

You should ship anything of value by Priority International, which is fully trackable and has hugely improved in delivery time in the last couple years.  Very few packages shipped this way take more than a week to reach me.  However, up to 10 business days is within the service standard.

Your 25% (5/18) failure rate for packages to Canada is clearly unusual.  I have received literally hundreds of packages from the States, and never had a single one go missing.  I would seriously examine your packaging methods and consider whether the people to whom you are shipping are being entirely honest with you.

See first paragraph...

You are specifically talking about UPS Standard and FedEx Ground.  All other UPS and FedEx services include brokerage fees in the basic shipping cost.

So your postman is a jerk.  Clearly a failure at the highest levels of Canada Post.
