Oh jesus. The XB pads are so friggin big it looks ridiculous lol.

wow! 70mm!!!

I'm probably going to by an XB1000 but that depends if they sound more like the XB500's then the 700's.

When does the XB1000 come out? I will certainly be buying a pair, will do a review of my XB700 and XB500 with it.

Ugh I recently got the m50's thinking their bass would get my craving... but it doesn't. I never considered myself a basshead but now I'm starting to think I am. I listen to a lot of hip hop and trance. Do these 580's have better punch than the m50's even without an amp? Or do they pretty much require a nice amp?

The bass impact may be even double. When not EQed, the bass wont really rumble your head. But 580 is definitely a basshead's headphone

heh, I have to try the 1000's

The 700s are pretty much covering my whole head...the 1000s will make me look like a jecklin float...

I'm enjoying the XB700 so much! just purchased it last friday, I auditioned the XB500 and loved it also, but the thunder of the 700's was too much to pass by... now I noticed that XB1000 is coming out soon (kraken size padstongue.gif!) I will most likely end up buying the entire line up soner or later except xb300.biggrin.gif

XB500 is actually bassier than XB700, if you demo'ed XB500 at Best-Buy, they are known to use very weak/weird source, if you'd try XB500 with proper equipment you'd probably get suprised. :D

the closest Best-buy is in Mexico City (2 1/2 hour drive)eek.gif. I actually did sample both of them with my own equipment at Sony style. I used an Ipod classic 160gb with a cmoy with bass boost, don't get me wrong both are freakin great, I just loved the lower notes of the xb700 a lot more plus its treble and soundstage. At home I have an old marantz receiver that just fits perfectly, and I knew it would make them really shine. The xb500 is on my future purchase list without a doubt and probably the xb1000 if some of you fine fellow head fiers find it goodwink_face.gif.

ps: I sampled them with some of my favorite tracks from psytrance acts Astral Projection and some Talamasca and Gataka.biggrin.gif

Ultrasone Pro 900. Trust me, I'm a basshead extraordinaire and nothing comes close to their punch when amped decently. Get a used pair off the FS section along with a Fiio E10 and prepare to have your eardrums hitting eachother.

Might I suggest you test them with Rage Against The Machine - Take The Power Back? The opening of that song on the abovementioned combo is killer!

I have the same headphones and coincidentally also tested with Take The Power Back.

The bass is good on the Pro 900 and for really sub bass stuff it's great (like James Blake Limit To Your Love). But a lot of RATM songs, I find that the HD25 kick much harder than the 900 (ex in Take The Power Back, the part right after "bring that sh_t in")

For bass quality and quantity - Pro 900. For bass impact and "thumpness", I haven't heard anything that's better than HD25.
