well, recently i purchased a brand new ad700 on ebay, you can even check my ebay profile to see its just barely a few days old.
I failed miserably trying to do the boom mic and paint job mod, everything went wrong. My cat knocked the set off my table and dented a very small portion of the bottom of the grill. This did not effect the sound at all, just a small dent. If you can remove the grills its possible for it to be fixed a little, pushed back in place, maybe.
Upset, I continued to try to follow through with the mod, after heaving testing with my old AD700s, they sounded identical and i ensured the ding didn't affect the sound.
One of the screws under the earpads got shredded by my screwdriver jewler tool. Its now more of a O instead of a +. A simple bolt extractor or screw remover will fix this without a problem.
By this point i was pretty upset. I then was forced to continue the paint job without removing the grills, figured might as well just see what the white looks like, during the drying phase i left my garage door open and took a break, it got really windy, the paint got into the foam pads under the grill on both sides due to the immense wind. This happened on the very first coat, I've painted and modded many ad700s in the past 2 years so this is a first for me and im ashamed of my work. Mother nature got me good this time ;)
The paint is a washable paint, so if you can get the screws out and remove the foam, you should be able to wash/replace them with no problem. Hell you should be able to scrub the paint off with a good brush that would do that job.
if you have a bolt/screw extractor, you will be in business and get a slightly battle scared but virtually brand new ad700 lol. They've literally 0 hours of use. Shame.
im asking $65, the original box is included.
This could be a very simple fix if you have a bolt extractor or can get one. You will definitely want to repaint the grills, they look terrible.
