Comparative Review - coming

Thread Starter

I have the following amps/dacs

Shanling PH100

Matrix M-stage

Matrix i-mini

Aune

Yulong DAH-1 Mark

Beresford 7510 mk6/4

Edifier

Marantz PM17 Ki Sig

Dacs

Xindak dac 5

Cambridge DacMagic Azur (latest version)

Keces 131.1

Cambridge original dacmagic

Headphones

Denon ah-d5000

Audio Technica w5000

Sony Sa5000

Beyer Dt990 pro (280ohm)

Shure in ear monitors (can't remember the model)

and some older sony's - too lazy to look for the model number and can't remember off hand.

I don't mind doing some comparison reviewing if you want to know my opinions ears are almost 49 years old

I have tried

Yulong d100 - died after 1 hour

Shanling PH300 - didn't like my AT W5000 hissy between the music although didn't intrude into the music

Creative 0404 - didn't work well with my pc

tag Mclaren pa20 (with class A headphone amp)

plus lots of older stuff

I enjoy all my headphones but at present my favourite headphone is the Denon AH-D5000 I just enjoy using these more than any of the others it is not the purest but the combination of comfort (most important factor for a headphone) and musicality makes it number one.

DacMagic vs. Matrix i vs. Beresford would be interesting

DAC sections only, seeing as how DM has no amp

Also, the DM and Matrix are the only cheapish balanced DACs I can think of besides the LittleDotDAC
