OGG vs MP3 vs ???

Thread Starter

I've got a Sansa Clip+ which I think I'm gonna rockbox soon with some Meelectronics M9's.

I don't know in what format I should encode my music for this little player.

Took this test here http://www.noiseaddicts.com/2009/03/mp3-sound-quality-test-128-320/ with the earphones plugged in my PC and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the two files (tho it was there when I tried it on my SR60's).

Now considering that what should I use OGG or MP3 or something else?

I'm mostly interested to be as small as possible and sounding good at the same time.

I would be using those files with the clip only so I don't care about other players compatability or whatever.

Thanks a lot.

LE: Yeah forgot to mention I was wondering between V2 or V0 mp3's compared to q5 ogg's both being variable.

Also what software should I use to convert? ATM I have Audio Transcoder

Stick with LAME encoded mp3s. I'd also recommend V0 as it has the best SQ/File Size ratio.

If you were wondering V0 is 256~ kbps at a variable bit rate.
