B&W 3.0 Set Up Coming Soon

I bought a pair of B&W DM601 Bookshelves and a B&W CC6 Center Channel to match. A sub (probably Velodyne) will be coming eventually, as well as perhaps some 602.5s or 603s to replace as the fronts. However, I have 3 pretty good speakers in the works, just in time for all that SACD goodness to come in from Amazon.

I'll post pics when they get here.

What can I expect from an initial 3.0 set up?

I have a small 9' x 12' dedicated music room and have a pair of B&W 602s3 and a Velodyne HGS-10 sub. It is actually "low-end" gear but it makes me happy. Proper placement and room treatments makes it happen.

For MC SACD I think you should get the full 6 CH system for sure. I used to have my full set of B&W for a 6 CH system but gave that up for my smaller, properly set up system.

I was assuming I'd eventually got to 5.1. Probably start 3.0, then 3.1, then either upgrade the mains and move the 601s to the back, or get lower end speakers for the rears. More likely the former.

Just as a heads up, in case anyone was curious, they arrived today. Look great, and am looking forward to how they sound based on a very short test of a single speaker before I had to go back to work. :( I'll post pictures and some impressions this evening. My setup is far from ideal in my tiny little dorm area, but I'll do the best I can until I move into a bigger apartment in a few weeks.

Sounds good!  Looking forward to your impressions of the B&W speakers and SACD playback over them.

I listened to Mono's Live DVD last night, and when it got to one of the climaxes, the distortion was rendered so perfectly I honestly thought the speakers were distorting. However, the volume was still low, and at much higher volumes they didn't distort with other music, or movies. Apparently they brought out the distortion so well I honestly heard distortion, and genuine crunch. It was scary at first, but a great effect, in retrospect.
