The colonel's 12th secret spice?

A "bucket" of Kentucky Fried Chicken would be expected to have up to almost fifty times the amount of arsenic allowed in a glass of water.

It's a pretty well-referenced article. The NY Times article posted here a few months ago about ammonia-treated contaminated "beef slurry" finally cured me of my Big Mac attacks. Now it's free-range chicken or nothing!

"arsenic is considered one of the prominent environmental causes of cancer mortality in the world...[it] is a human carcinogen linked to liver, lung, skin, kidney, bladder and prostate cancers"

His 12th item in his secret recipe is chicken. I can tell you that.

Technically alcohol is poison in the body, yet you won't find people stop drinking it.

Then if you read another article, it'll tell you a glass of wine a day is benifitcial to your health.

Alcohol is not a poison as long as it's single malt.

The numbers are a little misleading. A bucket of chicken has a lot more mass than a glass of water. Not fifty times as much, though. That's a little scary. Won't stop my grandma from eating it, though. She loves it, and she already has every cancer imaginable, so it's a win win!

And his 13th is the souls of the employees. Just a little adds a lot of flavor.

Honestly, who likes KFC, anyway? Their food probably has the highest calorie per cubic inch ratio I've ever seen before. Every time I go there, I feel like I haven't eaten enough food, yet one look at the calorie content suggests I might as well have eaten a couple homemade bacon cheeseburgers and some ice cream.

Massive calories + a well-known poison = a good time for all?

It would be more fun to just consume vitamin A to death

I've been shying away from commercial chicken for years. Because of their predisposition to get disease they have been getting pumped full of antibiotics, and can grow up to slaughtering size in weeks instead of months by pumping them full of hormones. There have been rumors for years now of KFC chickens having three breasts because of this, another win-win for the stockholders as they can charge extra for breasts.

At my grocer a big free-range chicken cost at least $8 and are delicious; a much smaller whole fryer OTOH cost $1.50 - $2.50. I tried one because it was so cheap, and it didn't taste near as good. Now I have an idea why, it's because they are actively pumping the poor things full of poison, just to save $ and make them grow even faster! I have one of those smaller ones in my freezer now; it will be the last one I buy, and I will feed it to my dogs rather than let it go to waste.

With apologies to my dogs, who won't really mind.

Free-range/wild/anything not raised is probably the most delicious anything you can get.

I've eaten chicken, beef, salmon, turkey and so much more in both varieties free-range/wild and farm raised.  And I must say that BY FAR the wild meat tastes much better.  Better flavor, texture, color, and knowledge that you aren't eating meat pumped full of hormones, anti-biotics, and un-natural food [fish pellets, abnormal diet].

Even without regard to all those those contaminants, any animal raised free-range and plant-fed is much more nutritious than anything raised in a cage and fed grain, as there is a big difference in cholesterol content. Even with the eggs from free-range chickens, there is a big difference in that respect. I agree that there is a big difference in flavor as well. They are experimenting on us for profit; it's not a coincidence that the same federal agency regulates both our food supply and our prescription drugs. They (the FDA) evidently wants to see how much poison we can possibly ingest.

Of course.  Feeding any animal something that is was not meant to eat leads to issues.  The best cows/beef are allowed to roam on huge pastures full of grass, what they were born to eat.  The average hamburger/beef/cow comes from a factory, not a field.  I dare you watch Food Inc.  It's a great documentary, and you'll puke watching some of the footage.

Cows that graze of grass are healthier, and for that matter, taste better, but they take MUCH longer to get to slaughter weight vs farmed cows which are fed grain, corn, and even ground cow meat!  It's all about business.  Who cares if if the beef sucks as long as we make a profit...right?!?!

As for the FDA, I don't believe in conspiracies, however there is a clear link between business and the government.  Just look at Monsanto, the behemoth that controls a significant amount of the US crop.  Search Monsanto and government and you find thousands of sites talking about their influence, and their bullshit saying it's all not true.

Buy turkey instead of chicken. Chickens tolerate industrial processing much better than turkeys do; it's always a healthier choice. I'm not worried about alcohol. My ancestors come from sturdy drinking stock.
