Best place to purchase SM3s?

Thread Starter

Ok, so I haven't gotten a ton of input on the SM3 vs. the other phones I was considering, the JH-5s, but I figure since the SM3 is universal might as well give it a try first and then if it's not my cup of tea I can go for the customs.

Soooo... what's the cheapest/least hassle place to order?  Earsonics website, or a particular IEM / audiophile store?

Just go to the Earsonics site and order there. If you're outside of Europe, you should get them free of the tax. I paid 288.46 euros, before international shipping (which is a bit steep, at about 30 euro).

There is also HandHeldAudio that sells them.

believe there in only the 2 places, earsonics and hanhheldaudio.

id prob go with HHA for linguistic reasons, in case there was any problems with them.

As far as I can see, unless you live in Great Britain, it is cheaper to buy the SM3 from Earsonics (in France). I have e-mailed the people at Earsonics, and though their English isn't perfect (some grammatical errors), it is still easy to understand.

May I ask how much did you pay for your Earsonics SM3 and from where?

I bought mine from Handheld Audio and although they may turn out a bit cheaper getting them from Earsonics direct, you do get a 2 year warranty with them and only 1 year from Earsonics, I think.

I am about to order my directly from Earsonics. Because the GBP is stronger than the Euro, Handheld Audio is more expensive for American buyers.

My total will be $384, including shipping.

Just order directly from EarSonics - their customer service is wonderful and English is no problem for them.

how were you able to get that price if you don't mind my asking? their site lists them for 345EUR and with shipping that converts to ~$460. if it's possible to get them for less than $400 i'd be tempted.

To buy from Earsonics, you have to create a purchasing account (it is simple and free). As long as you don't list France as your home country, they will not charge you the CEE VAT Tax (when you order).

Just in case anyone wants proof, here is an e-mail between me and Mr. Lopez:

Franck Lopez
Earsonics SAS
Cap Alpha
9 avenue de l'Europe

Tél. : +33 (0) 467 59 36 20

web: www.earpad.fr
mail: contact@earsonics.com

Hi,

The price including shipping is 384$.

If you order this week end, It will by shipped Tuesday or Wednesday...

sincerely,
Franck.

thanks a lot for the info. good to know they'll sell them without all the taxes, but at the same time you're likely to get stuck with 20% customs fees on it. i guess it's worth the chance, because depending on the shipper there might not be anything added on.

can anyone who's ordered them directly let us know what the customs fees were?

THERE IS NOW A US DISTRIBUTOR FOR EARSONICS!

I just found this great deal on the Earsonics SM3.

SoundEarphones (soundearphones.com) now sells the Earsonics SM2 and SM3.

Earsonics SM3 is $352. That alone is a great deal, but it gets better:

Sound Earphones often has coupons (10% to 15% possible). Right now using "10Sound" gives you 10% off.

That means you can get the Earsonics SM3 for under $320 ($316.80).

Awesome! Spread the News!

Note: The reason that the above post is so excited, happy, etc. is because I just ordered the Earsonics SM3. I am currently at the excited and ecstatic phase. I hope I don't get to the annoyed, bored, and waiting phase.
