As for continuity, if you don't have a multimeter, just get an LED and a AA battery with some wires and build a circuit, then test the plug with the wires and drivers. If the LED comes on, then those two contacts are connected to each other (ie, continuous). For an easy to work with 3.5mm, I'd pick Switchcraft over any other plug any day. One, the opening it big enough for any type of star quad, and two, it's big enough to have a good grip on.
