Opinions on Tattoos

I've been considering taking a tattoo for about a year now, and now that I will have some extra cash I'm more serious than ever. I've never taken one before so I am still very unsure. The design I've been considering is a butcher style 'sectioned' pork, on the inside of my wrist. Basically to symbolize my passion for my profession as a chef (and pork meat). I'm also very interested in biomechanical styled tattoos, and my plan was to take one covering my right arm and chest, if the first one is satisfying. I've also been thinking about something colored (this I'm still researching). What's your experience with tattoos? Do you have ink somewhere on your body? Would you do it?

 

Don't know if this is relevant, but I'm 22.

Personally, I don't want a tattoo myself, but to each his own. Just make sure that you really like the design and are happy with it. While you can get tattoos removed, it's an expensive and time consuming process. Also, maybe consider getting a henna tattoo first so you can see what it looks like in real life. It's a little extra cost, but is a good way to make sure.

 

Finally, realize that some employers won't hire you if the tattoo is visible. Now, lots of chefs have tattoos and I think in that industry it's pretty much standard practice. But if you think there's any chance of ever switching careers, make sure the tattoo isn't visible anywhere on your body when wearing a t-shirt.

I don't have any tats, but most of my friends do (mostly random stuff and the names of their kids). I've always wanted a colorful full back tat reaching to my neck. But I'm incredibly indecisive when it comes to design, so I'll probably never get one.

Okay OP. Take those pictures, and put them on a sagging 70 year old body instead.

 

That's why I'm not going for tattoos.

I don't want a tat and don't know anything about them. But the biomech tat showed looks crazy, love the depth in the image! very very neat.
