Iphone --> DacMagic, possible? - Page 2

Sorry dude...blame that Steve Jobs.

What really sucks is after about $450 for the iWadia, you STILL need a DAC and an AMP. All the iWadia does is pull the digital signal out of an iPod for a DAC to process downstream. That's it.

You'd be better off with a PC with coax/toslink out (or even USB) into a DAC/AMP.

I have a Macbook Pro with toslink out, so luckily I can still use that.

That's ideal...quite a bit better than the more jiddery USB output.

I think initially Apple was very tight about it's digital output when it had DRM controlled music and did want the users a way of cracking the DRM. Kinda stupid now as it's pretty much DRM free.

Honestly if you're going to spend $400 on the Wadia, why not just get a Mac mini for $700 or what not and have a fully functioning PC with toslink out.....
