Any other suggestions of similarly epic and amazingly awesome albums?

It is indeed Pink Floyd's best.

Check out this:

Mike Keneally's "Wooden Smoke".  The Beatles' "Abbey Road".  Jimi Hendrix -- all 3 studio records, "Band of Gypsys", "Berkeley: 2nd set". (Easy to take that stuff for granted, but it hasn't really been matched if you can get to it with fresh ears).  Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs" (the latest remaster finally got it sounding right).

I'm not listing jazz or fusion, or for that matter classical, because I think I might type way too much. WYWH was my favorite record when I was in my late teens.  Having heard so much music since then, it's hard to compare across genres or even across decades.

IMO anyone who doesn't like this album has no taste in modern music, or is an idiot.  Maybe both.

That's quite a statement. I'm actually not a huge fan of Wish You Were Here. Anyways, I think Oceanic by ISIS is pretty epic, and Laughing Stock by Talk Talk is probably one of my favorite albums.
