Mac user...needing a recommendation on how to "blend" or "spice" itunes songs?

OK - I am sure there are really expensive mixing programs out there, but I am looking for a more inexpensive way to blend music, making cool "remixes" on my own.  I have never done anything like this before, but think it would be a blast and pretty cool.  I have a pretty good ear for what goes together and think it would be a fun little hobby.

Any ideas or recommendations.  ALL m y music is iTunes based, so the software should be Mac friendly.

Thanks for your thoughts.

When you say "blend" and "remix" what exactly do you have in mind? iTunes has support for playlists which allow you to select songs you want of various artists or albums and have them play back in a sequence.

If you want more control and to physically change the sound such as fading tracks into each other or overlapping certain sections then there are several options. A free and popular option is Audacity. Audacity is rather generic in it's purpose but it can certainly accomplish what you might have in mind. It's free, open source and available for OS X, Windows and Linux.

There is a free open source DJ program called Mixxx that will let you "DJ" tracks. As far as more deconstructive remixing/editing the program mentioned above works as well you may want to check out the free demo of renoise. The renoise program is a little bit different but it's been kind of fun to play around with.
