Good sound, easy to use player for senior.

Here's a bit of a challenge, find an extremely easy to use player for a 85 year old, nearly blind senior. Must have good sound, and most importantly it must be very loud. No video or other fancy stuff, preferably non-touchscreen, very big and easy to read screen/font, drag&drop filetransfer, must be very easy to use.

Is there such a player? Cowon D2 has the right sound, but is far too complicated to use, Clip is too small to be usable.

Would a classic iPod or iPod Nano work? I've given them to older relatives who appreciated them and found them easy to use. A good pairing is the iGrado or Grado SR-60.

- 85 years old and nearly blind

- loud

- no video

- non touchscreen

- drag drop file transfer

- easy to use

- big and easy to read screen/font

maybe Cube C30, it can read menu/interface for blind user(like itouch but itouch cannot drag drop file transfer), very loud , no video, no touchscreen, drag n drop, easy to use, the only problem is the font and the screen is too small and it is chinese stuff, some people here hate chinese stuff.

other option is Samsung P3/M1/Cowon J3, they are loud, drag n drop , easy to use (has external button for lock, play/pause, next/previous , volume up/down , can use Widget "Music Player" for faster and very simple interface and can put only 1 music icon or widget on the desktop of player so will make it simple.

the problem is all of them are touch screen player and has video feature.

but dont forget that J3 has Zoom Feature and can be used when browsing file

i think its hard to find a player with big screen and font but doesnt have video and touchscreen

If Clip is too small, ever looked into its older bigger sibling, the Sansa Fuze?

iPod Video 5.5 g with or without Rockbox?  It'd be worth looking at.

Thanks, I'll be having a look at those.

Just any old iPod that isn't a Shuffle should be good enough.

Thanks for all suggestions. As incredible as it sounds, I think we have found the player, the Archos AV500. There are probably better ones, but when trying out my old trusty Archos, that was it.

Turns out I will need a new video player now, but that's another story.

I probably will end up getting a J3

Or maybe a newer Archos, not sure really, the Viliv P3 seems nice as well.
