Can someone teach me how to use the USB input? What I have in mind is to have some storage device (not a noisy pc with fan) perhaps a solid state device which can store all my cds in highest quality format and then I can listen to my music without using cds and that will save alot of space. What is it I need? I dont want something expensive whats my cheapest option an ipod perhaps?

I don't own an ipod and dont know anything about computer based music.

thanks

You want to go from the using a CD player as a source to using a computer as your source?

Or do you want to use a DAC with your CD player.

Since your are starting from scratch I would recommend you this website: The Well Tempered Computer, it has every information you need and more.

If you want the best sound from your cd's via dac, a computer won't help you there IMO. You should invest in a good quality transport and digital cable.
