Whatever happened to the HiFiMan dynamic headphone?

Thread Starter

Wasn't there supposed to be a new dynamic driver headphone from HiFiMan (was it the HE-3?)

I've searched and can't find anything. Perhaps I fell out of the loop on this?

Yep I thought so too. It was announced with the HE-6 if I remember correctly. Never heard anything about it though. Does anyone know if they scrapped it or if it's still slated for some sort of release?

We made a dynamic headphone sample called HE-3 before Canjam, but we did not show it off. The reason is that our dynamic team are not happy with the sound. The ambitious dynamic team leader, a stubborn Cantonese and the designer of RE0, want to make something good so that they can beat our ortho team. Then I was told to wait for another two month.

HE-6 will be the flagship model orthodynamic, not dynamic.

Hey if he's the designer of the RE0, I don't mind a delay if it's to make it sound better. He probably knows very well what he's doing

How about the HE-4? Any news on that? Has that been pushed back as well?

Nankai I think you make great products for the money(the jury is still out on the HE-6). I can't wait to see how good it's going to be and how it competes with the likes of hd650, dt880/990 and akgs. I hope it's good enough to send the other manufacturers back to the drawing board.

All I have to say about that.

I'd like to know about the HE-4 too!

Nope just announced it as far as I could tell.

Thanks for clearing that up Fang. I'd love to try them out especially considering the level of respect the RE0s and HE-5LE get around here. I'll pull up a chair..........

Loving the in-house competition at Hifiman. Competition usually inspires great products.

We did bring the HE-4 prototype to Canjam. However, nobody report them. Maybe we need to hire a public relation expert to make some noise.

Oh so they were at Canjam, interesting that no one has said anything about it. We need to get some of these Chicago people to speak up!
