PS3 as SACD Player

Is it good enough? I mean, is it worth using as a SACD, assuming I don't have the money to drop on an OPPO? If it will suffice, what's the best output to select to run the absolute best audio to my Receiver, and is HDMI the best interconnect to use?

In that order: Yes; Yes; Multichannel PCM 24-bit 176.4 kHz (with bitmapping #3 probably) via HDMI; Yes

For more about SACD on PS3, check PS3SACD.com. There's a FAQ, among other information.

I actually want it to resample?

Well, DSD streaming output via HDMI would be the best and HDMI v1.2 and up supports that but apparently the various "v1.3" HDMI chips used in successive generations don't, so high-resolution PCM is your best alternative.

Keep in mind that SACD is encrypted.  You might be able to get the Red Book layer output, but not the hi-rez.

On optical yes, but on HDMI you can definitely get a high-resolution (24-bit 176.4 kHz multichannel 5.1 PCM) signal. The trick is that it's also encrypted (HDCP on HDMI).

I know there are a handful of very expensive DACs and receivers that can decrypt SACD.  But if another method exists, please share.

I don't think there's another method but AV receivers capable of DSD decoding aren't necessarily expensive. I believe you can get them under $300, if this overview is correct.
