So this will work?: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=P68.0KCACT-ND&itemSeq=88284670&uq=634141908387678925

Minimum quantity is 10 which is okay I guess, shipping is $2.41 for 8oz.

No, that resistor is only 68 ohm, not 68k ohm. Try Digikey if you want cheap shipping, they have USPS First Class option, which is usually less than $2.

I thought I'm supposed to be looking for 68k ohm?

Got the parts, built it, tried it, and got a problem. The right side sounds like it's on a lower volume than the left and the left side is clearer. I'm pretty sure it's the dock but I'm not sure what's causing it. I've put pieces of paper to insulate the 3 pins but it's still happening.

The dock pins can pull out :(

Look at the end and see if pins look flush with end if you can see if wires are touching inside..

Just try building another if its all glued up..

Try to test before you glue it shut and some times when the wires are large it causes issues buttoning it up ...

Keep trying you will get it...

Yes, I know that the pins can be pulled out, I've broken quite a few with either too much solder or the end breaking off in general. No, it's not flush, I think the wires are too big, I've been soldering the wires on with the pins out of the dock. I wasn't planning on gluing it shut either.

So it's just trial and error then? I'll see what I can do. Sucks, I have to unbraid the wires and remove the braided sleeving because I didn't plan on keeping my wires marked after finishing it so now I have to figure out which wire is which again.

Big Wires are a PITA

If you look at the link I posted I used a double 28G wire and I thought it was too small but was told 28G or 26G is perfect and they are cake to bend..

Do a few test before soldering just use a dab of solder, maybe just what is just on your pre soldered wire its called tinning..

Yeah with 3 strands of 24 AWG plus the sleeving, I had to drill the bottom of the headphone jack just to make it fit. I'll see if I can fix it tomorrow.

It seems I've "fixed" it although one side still sounds "louder" than the other.
