iTouch 3rd Gen Line Out Dock

I'm trying to make a LOD for my 3rd Gen iTouch. All I need to do is "connect pin 11 to ground (15/16) and then connect that using a 68k ohm resistor to pin 21" and get one of these from Qables: http://www.qables.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=746&zenid=9e9dbd912c61bc0792f04562715fd3aa right? What should I use for an input wire/is there anything else I need?

That only makes the iPod 'sees' your LOD as an accessory. You also need the L and R audio out pins.

Pins 3 & 4 right? Anyone have a wiring diagram for me?

I meant wiring from the iPod connector to the 3.5mm jack itself, I already saw that, thanks.

I'm not sure if I understood you correctly. You just wire pin 2 (G) to the sleeve of the 3.5mm plug. The same to pin 3 (R) to ring, pin 4 (L) to tip.

Ah I see.

(11+15 or 16) -> [68K] -> (21)

(G) -> Sleeve

(L)  -> Tip

(R) -> Ring

Alright, I think I got it. Any idea if the connector I selected would be too small? I was thinking about switching to this one: http://www.qables.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=557 however, I've seen many others use this one: http://www.qables.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=359

I was looking at 24 AWG wires, so I'm guessing that's too small? Isn't 28AWG pretty standard?

Some people run audio ground to 15-16 -11

24awg has larger diameter than that of 28awg...

Pin 2 to all three pins (15, 16, and 11)? What's the reasoning behind it?

Ehh sorry I didn't know, thanks.

No need to jumper all of them because they are all connected internally in iPod's dock. Just one is fine.

Okay, so:

(2+11+15) -> [68K] -> (21)

2 (G) -> Sleeve

3 (L)  -> Tip

4 (R) -> Ring

Will this work for the resistor?: http://cgi.ebay.com/100-pcs-1-4W-68-ohm-68ohm-1-Metal-Film-Fixed-Resistor-/120480322537?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c0d2fd3e9

Saw this at Mouser but didn't want to pay $7 for shipping: http://mouser.com/ProductDetail/Xicon/270-68K-RC/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMu61qfTUdNhGx2g6h6o0XudkZS%2f7qbPiAE%3d

You don't need to jumper pin 2 and pin 11. Just wire pin 2 to Sleeve.

No, that resistor is only 68 ohm, not 68k ohm. Try Digikey if you want cheap shipping, they have USPS First Class option, which is usually less than $2.
